From -50 °C to +65 °C: SAMI’s DO-22 Precipitation Gauge Functional at Extreme Temperatures and in Severe Climatic Conditions

датчик осадков ДО-22

The DO-22 precipitation gauge designed by the experts of JSC Peleng steadily operates in extreme climatic conditions, from arctic frosts to hot dry regions.

The equipment has the following key advantages:
•    the IP66 protection level guarantees resistance to dust, water and other adverse impacts. The heated receiving hole increases the accuracy of precipitation measurements;
•    two wind protection options were designed to increase the accuracy of measurements in windy regions;
•    the DO-22 gauge outputs data to the network with the adjustable interval from 15 to 60 seconds;
•    different product sets are available by order code. A ladder or a pole and wind protection may be included at the customer’s request.

The DO-22 gauge is an efficient alternative for imported devices. Its compatibility is implemented at the protocol level: the system perceives the sensor as regular, without software and infrastructure adaptation. The device responds to standard requests, uses the same commands and data formats. Measurements are taken round the clock, either autonomously or within data measurement systems.

Due to its flexibility and high degree of protection, the DO-22 gauge can be used for multiple tasks:
•    upgrading of weather stations networks;
•    deployment at facilities with mixed equipment fleet (both old and new systems);
•    autonomy and ease of maintenance during service activities.

The DO-22 precipitation gauge is designed for operation in modern weather stations networks, conforms to precipitation measurement procedures of the World Meteorological Organization.

As a result of tests conducted in 2024-2025 at the meteorological garden of the World Meteorological Organization, the DO-22 precipitation gauge was recommended by the Federal State Budgetary Institution Voeikov Main Geophysical Observatory as a measurement instrument for the state observation meteorological network of Rosgidromet.
